Raila’s former party LDP to back Nasa candidate

The newly re-registered Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has announced it will support National Super Alliance in the August poll.

Party secretary general Dennis Kodhe and chairman Juma Wanyalikha said they resolved to support the yet-to-be announced Nasa presidential candidate but will field other candidates including governors, senators, MPs and Members of County Assembly.

In 2002, Cord leader Raila Odinga and other Kanu rebels used LDP to enter into a coalition with the Opposition leaders Mwai Kibaki, Kijana Wamalwa and Charity Ngilu, giving birth to the National Rainbow Coalition (Narc) which went on to win that year’s elections.
