Uhuru appoints former Ipoa boss Njeru as member of JSC

President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed former Independent Policing Oversight Authority  (Ipoa) chairman Macharia Njeru (pictured) to serve as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for five years with effect from May 13.    

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 171 (2) (f) of the Constitution. I, Uhuru Kenyatta, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces appoint Macharia Njeru to be a member of the Judicial Service Commission for a period of five years, with effect from the 13th May, 2019,” the President said through a Special Gazette Notice.

  On Thursday, Macharia won the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) election for the male representative to the JSC. He garnered 2,738 votes against his closest competitor, Tom Ojienda’s 2,545 votes.
