Malindi investors push for more direct flights to spur tourists inflow

Tourism stakeholders in the resort city of Malindi have objected plans by the government to discontinue direct flights from Europe to Malindi airport. Italian billionaire Flavio Briatore says the move was ill-informed and would impact negatively on the tourism industry since most visitors prefer the destination due to direct connections and minimal or no layovers.
