Hundreds of youth under the National Youth Service (NYS) in Juja constituency took to the streets on Saturday to demand their pay.
The irate youth said they have been working for three weeks without receiving pay from the NYS officials while they had been promised they would be paid weekly. The youth said they have been renting the equipment because the NYS did not provide some for them.
While launching the project three weeks ago, NYS deputy director General Sam Michuki said the youth would be receiving Sh470 per day of which Sh170 will be saved in the sacco to help them get capital to set up their businesses once they finish the six-month programme.
