Raila roots for use of vernacular languages to conserve cultural identity.

CORD leader Raila Odinga has warned that Kenyans risk losing their cultural identity for shunning the use of indigenous languages in everyday life.

The former Premier has urged Kenyans to borrow a leaf from their South African counterparts who have managed to preserve their heritage by adopting the use of vernacular languages in formal set ups like Parliament.

He urged County Assemblies based in regions that are not cosmopolitan to encourage the use of the predominant language in debates alongside English and Kiswahili to promote the use of vernacular language.
