Tell us about yourself

My name is Natasha Wambui Ndegwa. I am 12 years old and I go to CITAM Woodley Primary School.

When did your passion for writing begin?

My passion for reading began when I was six years old. It was only last year that the Writers Guild Kenya, a group that nurtures young writers, noticed me and assisted me in writing my book.

What is the name of your book and what inspired you to write it?

My book is called The Kidnappers. I was inspired to write it after meeting some people in Writers Guild who inspired me to write a story that I was passionate about.

How have your parents supported your passion to write?

My parents have always been supportive and have bought me all the materials I need to write. They have also bought me a lot of books.

How do you perfect your gifts?

I read a lot.

Who are your role models in writing?

Jacqueline Wipson, Enid Blinton and Racheal Renee Russell. I just love their books and how they write.

How do you balance between writing and school?

I only write during my free time. When in school, I use my time to study.

What are your other passions?

I like swimming.

What would you like to be when you grow up?

I would like to be an Olympic swimmer, an author and a surgeon.

What are your favourite subjects?

I love social studies and English.

Advice to other kids?

Do not be afraid to show your talent. Nurture it the way I nurtured mine.
