Whether it’s to enhance beauty, rectify an abnormality or increase one’s self- esteem, cosmetic surgery is becoming a popular trend in Kenya. Virginia Wambui gives a list of some of the doctors who perform these procedures in the country
1. Dr Stanley Khainga
Dr Khainga is one of the top plastic surgeons and consultant in the country. He is the chairman of the Kenya Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons(KSPRAS) and also a lecturer and thematic head of the Plastic Surgery Unit at the Department of Surgery, University of Nairobi.
He mainly operates at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Kenyatta National Hospital and Nairobi Hospital.
2. Dr Ferdinand Nangole
Dr Nangole specialises in plastic and reconstructive surgery. His vast experience sets him as one of the leading plastic surgeons in East Africa. Some of his procedures include breast reduction, liposuction— a procedure that slims and reshapes specifi c areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits and improving your body contours and proportion. He will also enhance your butt mainly using excess fat in your body to give it the lift and proper appearance.
3. Dr Loise Kahoro
Dr Kahoro works as a consultant plastic surgeon at the Kenyatta National Hospital. She also does reconstructive surgery such as breast reduction surgeries.
Wanjeri Dr Wanjeri is one of the plastic and reconstructive surgeons who has specialised as Oral Maxillofacial surgeon (OMS or OMFS). This is a surgical specialty, which involves the diagnosis, surgery and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of many diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues. He is also a lecturer at the University of Nairobi, Department ofS. In 2015, he was appointed as head of the Plastic Surgery Unit of Kenyatta National Hospital.
4. Dr Joseph Kimani Wanjeri
Dr Wanjeri is one of the plastic and reconstructive surgeons who has specialised as Oral Maxillofacial surgeon (OMS or OMFS). 5.Dr Abdullah Adan
Is a He is a consultant plastic, reconstructive, aesthetic and genDr Abdullahi Adan eral surgeon. Dr Adan does most of his work at the Karen Hospital and runs a private clinic in the city. He is also a consultant at Kenyatta Hospital and lectures at the Department of Surgery at the University of Nairobi.
6. Dr Don Othor
He has over 12 years experience in the medical and cosmetic ar in the UK and in Kenya where he operates a clinic, Valentis Clinic.
He is a member of the Kenya KSPRAS and also other associations in the UK. He is also a lecturer on the cli applications Bot Toxin at the Royal of General Practitioners, London where he trains doctors, dentists and sur how to safely perform non-sur gical procedur
7. Dr Tilman Stasch
He is a qualified plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeon with over 10 years experience. He offers consultation on cases such as skin cancer venation, body contouring and breast surgery. He does his work at Valentis Clinic, Nairobi, with his partner, Dr Don Othoro. He treats matters concerning plastic and aesthetic surgery and cancer screening (mole mapping).
8. Dr Pranav Pancholi
He specialises in dermatology and venereology treatments his Avane’ Dermatology Clinic, Nairobi. He uses techniques such as electrosurgery, a dermatologic practice to destroy benign and malignant lesions, to control bleeding, and to cut or excise tissue. He also uses cryosurgery, which involves the use of extreme cold to destroy abnormal tissues, such as tumors; chemosurgery, chemical removal of diseased or unwanted tissue and Laser Therapy to treat skin problems such as wrinkles, age spots and certain skin cancers.
9. Dr Saroop Singh Bansil
Dr Saroop is a highly qualified dermatologist in Nairobi, Kenya. He specialises in skin diseases and conditions. Some of the procedures he administers are anti-wrinkle injections (botox), microdermabrasion- an alternative procedure to the costly plastic surgery, chemical peels and aesthetic injections. It is used to treat skin imperfections, like clogged pores, sunburns, skin pigmentation, blackheads and spots. He also deals in laser skin treatments for skin conditions such as eczema and acne.
10. Dr Raj Gopal
Dr Ventakarani Raj Gopal specialises in aesthetic/ cosmetic procedures. Some of his specialties include chemical peels and collagen induction therapy, a procdure that improves the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars and stretchmarks by stimulating skin’s natural ability to repair itself.He also does botox and dermal fillers, liposuction and breast augmentation and reduction.
