AFC Leopards Secretary General Oscar Igaida has confessed that sending highly rated striker Ezekiel Odera on loan to Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), was a wrong move and blamed former coach Nikola Kavazovic for the decision.
Igaida said the club has invoked the clause to bring last season’s club top scorer back to the den in a move aimed at rekindling the season for Ingwe whose season continues to wither to unappealing levels as the league picks momentum. He believes the player will be instrumental in the second leg of the 2018/2019 SportPesa Premier League action.
“Letting our top scorer go in the first place was ill-advised, it is good to recognise that a mistake was made. “We shall be having Odera back to the team with the hope that he will help us rise from the relegation zone,” Igadia said. He added: “We could not oppose the move by the coach at the time, but since he is now
gone and a new boss at the helm, and with the counsel of the new coach, Rwandese Andre Casa Mbungo, we believe time is right for the experienced forward,” Igaida spoke of Odera who scored 12 goals for Ingwe last season.
The 13-time Kenyan champions has scored 10 goals in 13-league matches and currently sit in position 17 with 10 points, their latest series of defeats being a 1-0 surrender at the hands of 2010 champions Ulinzi Stars. They next play inform Mathare United on Saturday.
