Busia to get Sh63m fish trans-shipment market

The largest fish transshipment market facility for East and Central Africa worth Sh63 million is scheduled to  be constructed at Busia border, a government official has revealed.

Busia County Director of Fisheries Timothy Odede said the county government will generate Sh2 billion annually in trade from the current Sh1.2 billion after completion of the project.

He said the project is expected to take six months, adding that it will also be the biggest transshipment facility for fish from Lake Turkana which is  exported to East and Central African markets.
