NAKURU IDPS’ WOES: 11,000 IDPs allege having been conned by a government agency

Over 11,000 squatters from Nakuru County have accused the Kenya National Organization Of Victims of Ethnic Clashes (KNOVEC) of conning them of over 20 million shillings in a land deal.

The families allegedly paid the money to a land buying company through the KNOVEC Organization Chairman, Peter Kinyanjui who promised to resettle them in Muloti area of Narok South District in 2012.

The squatters accused Kinyanjui of colluding with the land buyers to defraud them of over sh 24million which was contributed in 2011 by a majority of the members.

The families, who claimed to be victims of the 2007/2008 post-election violence, were expected to receive five acres each after purchasing shares with KNOVEC, a move that was seen to be of great benefit to them.
