Buffalo racing anyone?

Buffalo racing is an intense sport that deserves to be taken just as serious as all the other sports. In fact, buffalo racing takes just as much skill as football or basketball, well, at least in this part of the world! Although this sport is deemed as dangerous, it’s one of the most celebrated events in Thailand, and was initiated as a way to express gratitude to buffaloes after working for farmers the entire year. Unlike Kenya’s cultural bullfighting event where the bulls lock horns in the fierce battle, the buffalo racers have to compete with their very own bulls! The buffaloes first go through a training regime and are placed on special diets ahead of the competition. On the D-Day, several races take place in various categories with each event being a test of balance and agility for the riders, as well as the speed of the buffaloes. This event is one not to be missed while in Thailand, as it’s one of the best in sporting action and family entertainment! Usually, there are prizes at stake for the participants who take this sport seriously.
