Kenya’s tourism industry bagged more than 10 awards at the just-concluded World TravelsAwards Ceremony in Durban, South Africa.
Among the winners were Diani Reef Beach Resort and Spa, which received a global recognition as Africa’s leading beach resort 2018, while Kenya Airways emerged as the continent’s leading business class and economy class carrier.
Bobby Kamani, Managing Director, Diani Reef Beach Resort and Spa, says the award is recognition of the excellent experience the hotel is offering to both domestic and international tourists. “The Diani Reef family is ecstatic to have been chosen as the winners of Africa’s Leading Beach Resort 2018,” he said.
Kamani said Kenya has always been a favourite destination for tourists because of the weather, strategic location and the mixture of flora, fauna and the ocean. “But what makes Diani different is the white beaches. For four years in a row, Diani Beach has been voted best in the African continent as the best beach destination,” he added.
Other Kenyan companies that received awards included Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club as Africa’s leading hotel and Manda Bay as Africa’s leading Private Island resort.
Bonfire Adventures won two awards as Africa’s and Kenya’s leading Travel Agency while Leopard Beach Resort and Spa won the award for Africa’s leading family resort.
Africa’s leading conservation company of the year award was scooped by Ol Pejeta Conservancy while Destination Kenya won the Africa’s destination tours firm award.
Leopard Beach Resort & Spa from South Coast was selected Africa’s Leading Family Resort while Africa’s leading green hotel award was scooped by Aberdare Country Club. Palacina Residences and Suites were meanwhile declared as Africa’s leading hotel residences.
Kenya also won Africa’s leading luxury award, which went to Hotel Villa Rosa Kempinski while its sister resort, Olare Mara Kempinski Masai Mara, won Africa’s Leading luxury tented safari camp top prize. And once again, Masai Mara was selected as Africa’s leading national park.
