Thika United FC in conjunction with Meru-based Kirimara Sports have organised a week long mid-season trials to scout untapped football talent in the vast Meru region.
In the partnership, Kirimara sports will hand the events facilitation, promotion and organization while Thika United will handle the technical bits of the trials. The week long trials at Kinoru Stadium start on Friday June 22 and will run until all registered players have had an opportunity. The Thika United team will be led by secretary Mike Muriuki.
The County Government of Meru will provide technical and organisational assistance through their sports department.
The team plans to unveil the players who will be signed before their home crowd in the Thika United against Ulinzi Stars league match on July 1 at the Kinoru Stadium.
This will be the first of many events between the two partners. Kirimara Sports hopes to open up the region that has been previously out of Kenya’s football network through the experience and success of Thika United. It is Kirimara’s mission to not only make Meru a successful sports events destination but incorporate its youth into top flight football and other sports.
