Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu) has rejected proposed amendments to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Labour Relations and the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) Acts.
The proposals are contained in the Statute Law Miscellaneous Amendment Bill 2018.
Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli termed the bill “archaic” and aimed at clawing back the gains of the workers even as Parliament waits to debate the amendments next week.
Appearing before the committees of Health and Labour, Atwoli said the changes should not be brought through miscellaneous amendments but as separate bill because they affect all workers.
Members of the National Assembly assured Atwoli that they will make sure that the amendments do not sail through.
Nyatike MP Tom Odege said he will oppose all the amendments to the NSSF and Labour Relations Act as they are taking back the gains of the workers.
