Fireworks expected as schools meet for Term Two Games

Kisii County Secondary School Sports Association (KCSSSA) Term Two Games kick off today at Cardinal Otunga High School Mosocho with fresh challenges and old rivalries set for renewal as all champions from eleven (11) sub-counties that make up Kisii county set to square up for the county trophies.

Cardinal is prepared for the biggest county games kick-off with over 2,360 participants thronging the institution starting yesterday in readiness for the five-day county championship extravaganza.

Gesero boys teams who are famously known as ‘Tsunami’ kicks off their U19 title against Keberesi of Kenyenya Sub-county with the U16 side taking on Tabaka Boys while their girls counterpart, Liiness  face  Nyamagwa Girls and Kcreri in the opening Under-19 and 16 fixtures respectively.

In rugby sevens, the rivalry between hosts and defending champions Cardinal Otunga and losing finalists Kisii School will be in full play. Cardinal start title defence against Rioma as Kisii School take on Riokindo while former champions Itierio will be up against tough Nduru Boys in another pulsating encounter.

Fireworks are expected today when the Kenya Secondary  Schools  Sports term B U19  games  kicks off in  the three Counties of Kisumu , Siaya and Homa Bay.

In Kisumu County, Kisumu Day High School match against title holders Otieno Oyoo from Nyando Sub-county will mark the highlight of the championships.

Kisumu Day will be keen to stage a successful comeback but this will force them to wrestle the title they lost to Otieno Oyoo for the first time in five years.

Otieno noted that they have been in the cold for a long time and will leave nothing to chance when they tackle hard-fighting Otieno Oyoo. “It’s a good side have watched them playing, and it’s a quality football, we are talking about a quality side,” he added.
