High Court finds Miss Lang’ata Prison guilty of killing boyfriend

A woman who was crowned Miss Lang’ata Women’s Prison 2016 was yesterday found guilty of killing her boyfriend about three years ago by the High Court.

In her judgment, trial judge Jessie Lessit convicted Ruth Wanjiku Kamande for murdering her lover Farid Ahmed Mohammed on September 20, 2015 in Buruburu estate by stabbing him more than 20 times saying that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

“After analysing the evidence I find that Wanjiku’s action proved malice aforethought, an ingredient that is required to prove murder.

It is also evident that the stabs were not at a go, they were done in intervals. This is clear from the prosecution’s evidence that the accused action was intentional,” ruled the Judge. The judge will sentence Wanjiku on July 11.
