Slight changes were witnessed in the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) men’s premier league standings after last weekend matches at various venues countrywide.
Last season’s top three sides traded places on the log with Butali Sugar who finished runners-up grabbing the lead from Green Sharks after they picked six points at City Park Stadium while Kenya Police managed to silence Sikh Union 3-2 in a thriller to ascend to take second place.
Butali’s exploits at City Park has raised their points tally to 21, three clear of Police, thanks to their 4-1 win over KCA Wazito on Saturday and a 2-1 win over Green Sharks the following day.
Defending champions Kenya Police are on 18 points, after a laboured win over Sikh Union on Sunday.
Crowd’s favorite Green Sharks, however, lost touch with the leaders after the loss to Butali as they now find themselves placed third on 16 points.
In other fixtures, Wazalendo beat Strathmore Gladiators 2-1 to leap to fourth place and condemned Strathmore another loss that now leaves them placed fifth together with Sikh Union on seven points apiece.
Visiting Western Jaguars halted Parkroad’s initial charge on the log as they shared spoils in a 1-1 stalemate.
