Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu says his campaign to save the youth from alcohol will continue and told those aggrieved by the crackdown to petition the County Assembly for review.

He appealed to Kiambu residents to support the fight against the illicit brews being sold in wines and spirit for the sake of the youth whose future is being destroyed by greedy traders operating illegal outlets.

The governor spoke after he led county officials in raiding an illegal liquor plant in Kahawa Sukari. The female owner of the plant located at her posh residence fled moments before the county team arrived and is still at large.

Waititu’s anti-illicit brews fight has drawn sharp criticism from bar owners who are accusing him of using unorthodox means to cripple their businesses including breaking into their premises and confiscating legal drinks.

Officials raid

In the latest such incident, county askaris and other officials raided a wines and spirits distribution outlet on Kenyatta Road in Juja on Friday and carted away an assortment of alcoholic drinks valued more than Sh200,000.
