Ushuru moved to second place on the table following a narrow 1-0 win over Bidco United in National Super League match at Thika Sub-County Stadium yesterday.
Benjamin Amianda’s lone strike in the second half was enough to move Ken Kenyatta’s men four points off leaders Western Stima.
Amianda pounced on a cross from Oscar Mbugua against the run of play to give the taxmen what turned out to be the only goal of the match in the 56th minute to maintain Ushuru’s push for promotion.
Leonard Saleh’s Bidco fought hard in their own turf buoyed by home support but failed to get the final balls to lead marksman Sean Opwora who was also guilty of missing the few chances that came his way.
Inside the first 20 minutes, the lively attacker had tested the Ushuru backline twice but his attempts were either parried away by the goalkeeper or blasted wide.
On the other end, the twin attack of Amianda and Billy Opwora caused havoc in the Bidco defence but did not yield anything in the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, both sides played a tactical game with Bidco sitting deep, opting to use their wingers on the counter attack but the visiting team stayed tight.
Meanwhile, Nakuru All Stars clinched their second win of the campaign, a 2-1 result against Modern Coast Rangers while Kisumu Allstars’ woes intensified following a 2-1 loss to a resurgent Kibera Black Stars at Camp Toyoyo grounds.
