Champions TUK register first win in Super Eight league

Technical University of Kenya (TUK) got their first win in nine matches after hammering Leads United 5-1 in a one-sided Super Eight Premier League contest played at Kabete Technical ground at the weekend.

The reigning league champions got their goals through Stephen Juma who netted a brace before Jeconiah Uyoga, Steve Augo and Mike Ibande goals guaranteed TUK ensured maximum points for the students and saw them leap four places up to 12th spot on seven points.

The win was a morale booster for TUK as they were languishing at the bottom of the 16-team log following two straight defeats while playing against RYSA and Melta Kabiria.

TUK’s head coach Francis Odour cited playing as a team was the key ingredient to their emphatic win. “ We came into the match very focused on registering our first win. My team played according to instructions which eventually saw us emerge victorious.

I believe we still have time to catch up with the leading teams despite the early setbacks. Going forward I’m going to work on our mid field and defence,” said Odour after his win.

This is the second humiliating defeat Leads have suffered in two consecutive weeks after going down 5-0 in their previous outing against table toppers Makadara Juniors. Their loss to TUK sees them drop to 13th place on seven points which they are now tied on with the students but with an inferior goal difference.
