Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo says he was suffering from malaria when he collapsed during a funeral service in his constituency.
Speaking to journalists from his bed at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu where he was hospitalised, Amollo said the malaria attack is now under control.
In a tweet yesterday morning, the ODM legislator said: “Didn’t know malaria can be so dangerous! Developed malaria which the doctors say was starting to affect the brain! Fortunately all is under control now!”
He was with other leaders, among them Senate minority leader James Orengo, MPs Samwel Atandi (Alego Usonga), Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja) and Oburu Odinga (Eala) consoling the family of former Alego Usonga MP Peter Oloo who lost his son Tom Gemma to cancer.
Amollo, who had finished his speech by asking MCAs to stop supremacy battles and join governors in development, resumed his seat without any problem only to collapse moments later with foam from the mouth.
He was rushed to Bondo Medical Centre after frantic first-aid efforts on the scene before being transferred to Aga Khan Hospital.
