A sombre mood has engulfed Murang’a county after the chairman of the Public Service Board died in a road accident on the Thika Superhighway in Nairobi.
Titus Waithaka, 55, died on the spot after the car he was driving rammed a guardrail on Thika Road near Safari Park Hotel.
The chairman, who was driving himself in a county government double cabin Isuzu Dmax Pick-up, that went out of control and veered off the road before hitting the guardrail which pierced through it in the Sunday 4am accident.
Waithaka was heading to Nairobi from Murang’a when the accident occurred. On learning of the death, Murang’a governor Mwangi wa Iria sent a message of condolence to the bereaved family.
He termed Waithaka as a committed civil servant who brought order and calm in the board at a time when the previous one was marred with differences and personal conflicts.
