Nyatike MP Tom Odege has appealed for State aid in Nyatike where a quarry collapsed killing six workers.
Odege said so far the national government has not been of any help in the tragedy that has stalled mining in the area.
Addressing a news conference Friday, Odege raised questions over the laxity by the government and said Kenyans should be treated equally irrespective of where they come from.
“We are asking where the government is. Up until now we have not gotten any help and we are suffering,” he said.
His sentiments come after six miners were buried alive when the quarry collapsed. The six were said to have been on their way out of the tunnels before the walls caved in.
Area chief Chris Okelo said efforts to rescue trapped miners have hit a snag over lack of machinery.
