Administration Police (AP) moved two spots off the relegation zone after a 2-1 win over Coast Stima courtesy of Humphrey Alemba’s double yesterday.

The evenly contested fixture at Camp Toyoyo saw the visitors score against the run of play in the 12th minute courtesy of Abbas Muhiddin when he intercepted a stray pass to poke home past AP custodian Paul Khasenye.

Indeed the first half was punctuated by midfield battles but nothing fruitful was forthcoming. AP lie 16th on the log with 12 points. They fluffed early chances through Bradley Makokha and Nicodemus Etemesi with the goal at their mercy but the defence held tight.

The 10th placed Coastal side were ambitious on the break but their final balls went begging. Main engine room Eric Chivatsi was tireless as he sprayed passes into the AP backline but were unlucky to convert their chances. On resumption however, AP showed urgency as they pinned their opponents especially with waves of attacks from the flanks.

Etemesi came in handy with his runs and dinks as Benlee Juma’s side searched for the equaliser. Amid the frenzy, a well-positioned Alemba went inside his marker and his thunderbolt strike slipped off goalkeeper Benedict Messo’s gloves to make the match even.

After some tactical substitutions, AP were enlivened with continuous attacks. The left flank for Coast Stima was repeatedly being exposed and it was no surprise when the second goal was hit in by Alemba following a miscue by the opposing goalkeeper in the 72nd minute as the lads from the Coast got subdued.

Meanwhile, Kenya Police succumbed to only their second loss of the season when they lost 1-0 courtesy of Gerrishon Arabe’s 58th minute header following a cross from Dismas Amunga at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

The win moves the lakeside team to 25 points and third in the standings. Elsewhere FC Talanta returned to winning ways when they stunned high-flying Bidco United 3-2 at another thriller in Camp Toyoyo. Abdalla Juma’s side now moves to 11th in the standings with 18 points as the Thika side bemoaned defensive mistakes.
