Goons suspected to be linked to a prominent politician yesterday disrupted two press conferences convened by two groups to talk about the state of Nairobi county.
The men disrupted media briefings convened by the Nairobi Central Business District Association (NCBDA) and the Bunge La Wananchi. The would-be press conferences turned chaotic after the hooligans stormed the venues and roughed up the organisers.
Last evening, Central Police Division OCPD Harrison Thuku said they were searching for the attackers. First to meet the wrath of the hooligans was the former NCBDA chairman Timothy Muriuki who had called a press conference at Hotel Boulevard.
Muriuki was, however, blocked by two men who tore his statement before forcing him out of the conference room. The attackers were heard accusing him of tarnish the name of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
Similar fate befell Bunge La Wananchi team which was roughed up outside Serena hotel as it prepared to hold a press conference.
