Mombasa facing acute water shortage due to depletion of catchment areas

Kenya’s second largest city of Mombasa is facing an acute shortage of water despite being surrounded by a large mass of the Indian Ocean waters.

Our reporter Dan Kaburu visited the catchment areas and discovered that massive depletion of forests the Chyulu Hills and the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro more than 400 kilometres from Mombasa has diminished the amount of water flowing to coastal city.
