Three Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) employees and an official from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board are being held at the Eldoret International Airport in connection with the seizure of a Sh35 million consignment of mandrax capsules.
Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Mongo Chimwaga confirmed the arrest, saying the suspects are helping police with investigations. He said the cargo was from Dubai. “We have launched investigations into the incident and we will bring to book those involved,” he said.
Addressing the media at the airport, Chimwaga said drama unfolded when the trio refused to allow airport officials to verify the consignment.
“The airport officials became suspicious and called police,” he said. The Regional Coordinator said investigations have been launched to ascertain the source of the drugs, adding that those involved in the illegal operation.
