Parliament committee absolves KAA from employment dispute

James Momanyi @jamomanyi

The National Assembly Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunities yesterday absolved Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) from accusations that it has denied the local community employment opportunities at the newly commissioned Isiolo Airport.

The Committee chair Maina Kamanda and members agreed that the few employment opportunities at the facility have been fairly allocated to locals and other communities but asked KAA to set aside a certain percentage to locals when they start recruiting for new positions.

KAA managing director Jonny Andersen told the committee that when the airport was about to be opened they trained existing employees from other airports in all departments and deployed them to Isiolo to enable commencement and smooth operations.
