Reckitt Benckiser (RB), through its flagship product, Mortein Doom, has pledged to scale up efforts to eliminate malaria. The firm, in a statement ahead of today’s World Malaria Day, said it would continue offering innovative solutions, especially products targeting malaria-causing mosquitoes.
“As an organisation that firmly believes in innovation, we have invested in the development of a variety of Mortein Doom products including the insecticide spray, and liquid electrical mosquito repellent, all of which are eco-friendly and easily accessible countrywide.
Our product is designed to kill malaria mosquitoes instantly,” read the statement in part. According to the United Nations, more than 6.2 million malaria deaths were averted between 2000 and 2015, primarily of children under five years in sub-Saharan Africa.
Benckiser in conjunction with the Health ministry and other stakeholders, have scaled up the fight against malaria in Kenya through public awareness campaigns, community engagement and sustained investment in innovation. The initiative’s slogan is nimejitolea kupambana na malaria.
“As we strive to bring our country closer to achieving the Sustainable Development Goal of good health, we can bring malaria under control, curb infant and maternal mortality,” said the firm.
