Shock and grief gripped Mathangauta village in Likia, Njoro after a 26-year-old man allegedly brutally murdered his wife before stabbing himself to death after a domestic quarrel.
Joseph Ngigi is said to have had an argument with his wife Hannah Wangari, 23, on their way home after the estranged wife spent the night at her relatives few days before.
Area chief David Mugo said the couple has been in constant domestic squabbles. It was a tragic end to a love story after the man took a knife and stabbed the wife several times on the chest, neck and stomach succumbing to her injuries.
Confirming the incident, adding that the man was angry on why the wife had to disappear to her relatives after their arguments. “The two had a violent encounter a week ago prompting the woman to leave the house and she came back in the afternoon but found the door locked.
They talked briefly but the woman refused to enter the house and left,” he said adding that the woman succumbed to stab wounds on her chest, neck and stomach.
