Mercado, the club with a Mexican touch

I love Mexican cuisine and what better way to drink up as you dine in some of Mexico’s popular dishes. I recently was at the Mercado Kitchen and Bar in Kenrail Towers in Westlands. This is a place I would like to have my nights out with my girlfriends every weekend.

The set up at Mercado had me sold; from the swing chairs to the rustic yet modern décor, this place is out of this world. I love the fact that the hospitality industry has taken big strides when it comes to interior décor.

At Mercado there is that cozy and calm ambience that hits you immediately you set your foot in. It gets quite full on weekends, so it’s advisable to make reservations or check in early before people start to stream in. There is an indoor seating area and a wide patio right up front.

I ordered some Nachos and a massive glass of Red Sangria. But fortunately, that was a big mistake; that thing is never ending. It’s like its cousin, Long Island. It took me two hours to finish it off. I would rather have shots of Tequila.

They also have happy hour that runs from 4pm to 7pm from Monday to Friday, where you buy one cocktail and get the other free. Their cocktails are affordable, ranging from Sh650 to Sh1,200. Take note that Mercado is not a place to go dance the whole night. It’s chilled out and relaxed. It has the same ambience as Baobox  and J’s Bar and Kitchen in Westlands. So, incase you feel like trying Mexican cuisine this weekend, just head to Mercado. You won’t regret.
