Kericho electrician bags Sh17m jackpot

While many Kenyans continue to complain of the harsh economic conditions, one Silas Sotsi is smiling all the way to the bank. Sotsi is the latest millionaire in town after winning last’s week SportPesa mid-week jackpot of Sh17,730,581 after correctly predicting the outcome of 13 matches.

The elated 43-year-old used Sh600 to place six different sets of bets with one making him an instant millionaire just one year after signing up to the betting platform. Working as an electrician in Kericho County, Sotsi says he will use his newly-acquired wealth to upgrade his life by opening a number of businesses.

“Thanks to SportPesa, I can now easily upgrade my life something that I have been dreaming of for a long time. With this money, I will open my own business, buy a piece of land and build a house for my family,” said Sotsi after been presented with the dummy cheque for his Sh17 million windfall in Nairobi yesterday.

Despite winning the mid-week jackpot, Sotsi still intends to continue betting because his target is to win the mega jackpot in future. Sotsi’s win comes a month after Violet Wandaho Gathu, a retired banker, won Sh27,246,319 in another midweek Jackpot.

The SportPesa Mega Jackpot starts at Sh100 million and increases each week until won while the Midweek Jackpot starts from Sh10 million and also rises weekly until it is won.
