Tension is high in Kasiela, Baringo South, after bandits raided the area and stole 100 cows on Sunday leading to closure of two schools. According to residents, the bandits alleged to hail from the neighbouring community were armed and could not be pursued.
They claimed they had not received any government officers to help them recover their livestock after the raid. Kasiela location chief Samuel Kibii urged the government to carry out an intensive operation in the area to flush out the bandits who have been terrorising locals. He added that the only way to curb rampant insecurity is having an operation to disarm the attackers.
Closed schools Mochongoi ward MCA Kipruto Kimosop criticised the security forces for not responding fast during the attack. The affected Ngelecha and Arabal primary schools had resumed learning just a few weeks ago. Other schools that have remained closed due to insecurity include Loramoru and Kapindasum.
