Former rugby 15s East African Secondary Schools Champions St Peters ‘Saints’ cruised to the semi-finals after edging out Musingu 10-5 in a tough quarter final of Kakamega County Term One Games at Kakamega School.
Musingu who last year lost to the Saints at semi-final stage looked more organized and pressed hard the victors but they could not be allowed to penetrate Shimenga Livondo charges.
Musingu collapsed in the second half with hooker Hilary Onyango and scrum half Isaac Kulundu both grabbing a try a piece to hand St. Peters a win and a ticket to the semi-finals.
Musingu who finished as runners in Group D lost to Kakamega 5-0 before beating Handow 19-0 to qualify for the quarters while St. Peters hammered Aligula 60-0 before winning their last group match against Malava 23-7.
Saints coach Shimenga Livondo termed the win as a big for progress for his team and stated that he is focusing on the semi-final match tomorrow as he aims at reclaiming national title this year. “It very painful to see the boys exit the championship at this level we had prepared well with high hopes of making it to the highest level.
