In what is expected to be the day’s thriller in Women Premier League, defending champions Vihiga Queens travel to Nairobi to face Eastlands based Makolanders at Jericho’s Camp Toyoyo.
Fresh from a 5-2 win over Kayole Starlets in their opening match where new signing Purity Nyongesa and Amy Lasu scored a brace apiece, Makolanders will have a real test of might against the champions.
On their part, Vihiga Queens came from behind to snatch a 4–3 win over a stubborn Eldoret Falcons and the Alex Alumira charges will be out to grab a second win that will go a long way in aiding their title defence campaign. Meanwhile, current league leaders Thika Queens will be up against Baringo Starlets at the Thika Stadium on Saturday.
The two-time champions won their opening matches, away from home bagging maximum points in a 3-2 score line against Wadadia and 5-0 against Vihiga Leeds.
A doubleheader has also been lined up at the Ruaraka Grounds Saturday where Gaspo Youth will face Eldoret Falcons starting 1 pm before paving way for the match pitting Mathare United Women against Kayole Starlets later at 3 pm. At the Kitale Showground, newly promoted Trans Nzoia Falcons are hoping to continue their good run against wounded Spedag.
The newbies announced their arrival in the topflight league with a 6–1 onslaught of another coastal outfit Mombasa Olympic. On their part, Spedag had a weekend to forget as they lost 3-1 to promoted Gaspo and are looking to redeem themselves.
Five matches have been scheduled for Sunday, the highlight being a doubleheader at the Ruaraka where Makolanders will face Baringo Starlets in the first match at 1 pm with Mathare United Women hosting Wadadia thereafter, at 3 pm.
Palos Ladies will also be up against Mombasa Olympic at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu while at the Gikambura Stadium, Soccer Queens will play their second match of the weekend against Eldoret Falcons.
