Wajir residents embrace subsistence farming away from pastoralism

It is considered the livestock capital of Kenya, supplying beef and camel meat to both the local and foreign markets.

The county which is largely a pastoralist run economy has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons always on the list of counties needing food aid every time the country is affected by famine.

However the county government is seeking to change this narrative by introducing crop farming to improve it’s food security.
