Squatters oppose sale of ADC land in Kilifi, threaten to demolish fence

Trouble is brewing at the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) land in Magarini area, Kilifi county after squatters opposed to sale of part of the land and threatened to demolish a perimeter wall that is being put up.

The squatters claim that the section of the more than 900 acres of ADC Kisiwani complex has been grabbed by some tycoons at their expense. They issued a three-day ultimatum for the government to stop construction works on the land or else they will pull it down and hold street demonstrations to Malindi town.

Area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Edward Delle who said he has written to Governor Amason Kingi, area MP Michael Kingi, Coast regional coordinator, County commissioner, among others, over the issue.

“The construction works should be stopped and those who are at the site evicted to avoid conflicts with members of the community as instructed by the National Lands Commission,’’ he said.
