Three National Super Alliance (Nasa) legislators yesterday said they plan to hold peaceful protests against Western diplomats in Nairobi from next week for turning a blind eye to shrinking democratic space and in the country.
Speaking at Nasa leader Raila Odinga’s Capitol Hill office, the legislators also vowed to not succumb to emerging intimidation of Opposition leaders by the Jubilee administration saying it is unfortunate that the envoys led by US ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec were allegedly siding with the government.
The trio—TJ Kajwang’ (Ruaraka), Simba Arati (Dagoretti North) and Geoffrey Osotsi (Nominated) also accused the envoys of focussing on business interests at the expense of the country’s democracy and rampant poverty in the country.
They claimed the US government failed to voice concern over the bungled August 8 elections because it feared losing Sh43 billion military equipment deal among other projects.
