Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has confirmed that Barrack Muluka is the duly appointed party secretary general contrary to remarks by some members that he is not legitimate.

In a memorandum to all ANC branches yesterday, Mudavadi distanced himself and the party from some individuals he said have been purporting to hold meetings and making resolutions on behalf of the party. He warned that they will be dealt with in accordance with the party constitution.

“For avoidance of doubt, our secretary general is Barrack Muluka, who was duly appointed following the laid down procedures in the wake of the resignation of Godfrey Osotsi. As party leader, I take great exception to attempts to destabilise our party secretariat through sideshows and machinations.

I particularly take note of a non-authorised gathering that took place yesterday that passed itself off as party women’s league and made unsavory remarks about the party secretariat,” he said. Earlier, some ANC party leaders announced they did not recognise Muluka as the party SG saying the decision to appoint him was irrational and unlawful.

Addressing the press in Nairobi, Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala (pictured) and former ANC secretary general Osotsi said all members of the party were not involved in the decision to appoint Muluka. The leaders instead called for fresh elections.
