National flag flies high in Pyeongchang Olympics

The Kenyan flag will be among the 90 national standards to be displayed during the official opening ceremony of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games as athletes from around the world parade on Friday at the Pyeongchang Olympic Satdium in Pyeongchang, Korea.

And one girl, 19-year-old Sabrina Wanjiku Simader will he carrying the hopes of millions of her fellow Kenyans as she marches with the delegation led by Chef de Mission, Philip Boit, himself a former and first Kenyan Winter Games Olympian.

The Kenyan Team and Chef de Mission, Paul Boit have already arrived in the winter-stricken, icy chill South Korean city of Pyeongchang, ready to make history as the first-ever Kenyan female takes on other native skiers in her challenging giant-slalom and super giant-slalom alpine skiing category from February 12. “To say we are over-excited despite the crazy conditions here over Sabrina’s determination is an understatement.

Everybody here, including our Ambassador and Kenyans in Korea, indeed Asia are so thrilled over our real chances to advance in this Games through Sabrina. There is a momentous expectation all over the air here and everybody is asking for accreditation to watch her compete”, said NOCK President, Paul Tergat as he welcomed the Kenyan delegation to Pyeongchang.
