Uhuru urges leaders to end politics, start work

President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged politicians to focus on serving Kenyans instead of concentrating on distractions, games and sideshows. The President said the time for empty politicking is over and leaders must embark on serious work to avoid short-changing the electorate. “I ask every leader – right across Kenya – to remember that this is the time to get down to work. The elections are over.

The people of Kenya have chosen their leaders. They now expect you to set aside distractions, games and sideshows; and to focus your efforts on building our nation,” he said.

The Head of State was speaking yesterday in Kajiado county where he inaugurated a Sh2.8 billion cement clinker plant that has created 700 jobs and which is set to increase tenfold in two years.

Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku and his Machakos counterpart Alfred Mutua echoed President Uhuru’s sentiments that Kenyans need to focus on work that will develop the country since the season of campaigns in now over. Lenku pledged his full support to Uhuru’s Big Four Agenda, saying it is the way to go in achieving the country’s development goals.
