Western Kenya traders urge area governors to form economic bloc

Traders from counties in Western region have asked their governors to craft a joint economic blueprint to ensure revival of collapsed industries. They said Busia, Kakamega, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia county governors should mobilise funds for joint investments.

Led by Chamber of Commerce Vihiga Chapter chairman Billy Nyonje (pictured), they said creation of jobs to hundreds of youth who are jobless from the region will only be possible if the counties united into economic blocs.

“Empty and witch-hunting politicking won’t add any value to the economic development of our Luhya nation and our governors should embrace progressive politics by coming together, mobilising resources and establishing joint investments,” he said, adding that days when leaders blamed past governments of neglecting region were ended by devolution.
