Siaya County government, Kenya Dorcas Aid Foundation and the Dutch government have partnered to help revive and install prepaid meters in water schemes in the area.

The Sh300 million project will revive seven water bodies in Siaya and will serve 500,000 people under the Siaya Bondo Water Sanitation Company jurisdiction.

Speaking on Friday while signing the MoU, country director of Dorcas organisation Edwin Onyancha said his agency would give Sh60 million while the Dutch government and the County government would give Sh140 million and Sh30 million respectively.

Governor Cornel Rassanga welcomed the prepaid billing system, saying it would reduce disparity between projected monthly revenues and actual collections.
