Recently appointed police commanders reported to their new workstations yesterday. The new Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti, Deputy Inspector General of Police Edward Mbugua and Noor Gabow for the Administration Police (AP) were appointed last Friday in acting capacity by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

They replaced Joel Kitili (regular police), Ndegwa Muhoro (DCI) and Samuel Arachi (AP) whose names were forwarded to the Public Service Commission for redeployment. Only Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet was spared in the shake-up.

The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu) secretary general Francis Atwoli has commended the President for the changes.
