Bright students from poor families in Vihiga County have reason to smile after County government of Vihiga has budgeted Sh200 million as bursaries for education.
Vihiga Governor Dr Wilber Ottichilo said the money will be distributed to 25 wards in the county to cater for school fees. “I urge poor students to take advantage of the bursaries to pursue their education in both secondary and colleges,” he said.
Ottichilo said his leadership is committed to supporting education in the county to empower youth academically. “Those responsible in management of the ward bursary fund must ensure deserving students benefit from the bursary,” he added.
Applications to the Ward Bursary committees are going on at Ward Administrators offices while election of new committee members will be conducted on January 10. Ottichilo has appealed to Vihiga residents to elect credible people who will execute their duties diligently without bias.
