President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday paid tribute to the late Harvard University Professor Calestous Juma describing him as a trailblazer in science, innovation and development studies.
Speaking at Prof Juma’s funeral service at Holy Family Basilica, Nairobi, President Kenyatta eulogised the Harvard lecturer as a scholar who displayed virtues of persistence and innovation. The President added that the late Professor Juma was a dedicated scholar and urged kenyans to emulate him because he had appetite for knowledge and was generous in sharing it.
The late professor died two weeks ago while undergoing treatment in Boston, Massachusetts, in the united states.
At the time of his death, he was a professor of the practice of international development and director of the science, technology and globalisation project at the Belfer centre for science and international affairs at Harvard Kennedy School.
The requiem mass was attended by Kenyan top scholars led by several public universities chancellors, former Vice President Moody Awori and several political leaders.
