Jubilation and songs of joy rent the air at Sing’ore Girls’ High School yesterday after the school topped the county in the just announced KCSE exam results. The Extra County school that is tucked away next to Elgeyo forest beat the National schools in Elegeyo Marakwet including St Patricks Iten and Moi Girls Kapsowar.
The two best performing candidates Joyce Murisha and Purity Maiyo, who posted A- (minus) and B+ (plus), respectively were carried shoulder high and showered with congratulatory messages for flying the school’s flag high.
The principal, Rose Koech, said the batch of 271 girls worked tirelessly adding that the results were not a surprise. She said the school was also a darling of the late Eldoret Catholic Bishop Cornelius Korir.
“Iam sure the bishop is now smiling from where he is because of the exemplary results,” she said and hopes that all her students will join university. Governor Alex Tolgos congratulated the girls for the sterling performance terming the school as an academic giant.
“It’s a hooray from me to the green angels of Sing’ore Girls for doing us proud this year; as a governor, I could not be more proud about this academic icon, you have flown the flag of Elgeyo Marakwet high, this is an early Christmas gift for us,” he said. – KNA
