Graduate wanted varsity to refund fees after she couldn’t get a job

When Trina Thompson was unable to find a suitable job following graduation from Monroe College in New York, she filed a Sh7.2 million case in 2009 against her alma mater.

Thompson, who graduated with a 2.7 GPA, claimed it was the college’s fault that she did not get a job since she was trained there and, hence, the institution should be held culpable.

She sought to regain the Sh7 million she had spent on tuition for her bachelor’s degree in information technology plus an extra Sh200,000 for the stress caused during her threemonth job search!

She lost the case.
