Woman who wanted casinos to pay her Sh2 billion for her gambling addiction

A lawyer named Arelia Taveras filed a Sh2 billion racketeering lawsuit against casinos that she gambled in, stating that it was the casinos’ fault that she got addicted to gambling and her career was ruined.

Taveras wanted the court to compel casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas to pay her the huge amount, arguing that they knew she was a compulsive gambler and did nothing to stop her!

She claimed that her life was completely upended, and that she often stopped eating and sleeping in the name of gambling. She refused to take any accountability for those actions. The case was thrown out.
