Kenyatta University (KU) Chancellor Benson Wairegi has challenged institutions of higher learning to champion efforts to unite the country. Speaking during the university’s 43rd graduation ceremony on Friday, Wairegi said the institutions are strategically placed to enhance harmony in the country, following a divisive General Election.
“The President is committed to unite the country but it is the responsibility of all of us, particularly universities and other institutions of higher learning, to ensure the country moves forward in unity,” he said Wairegi said KU has put in place measures to enhance national unity and champion gender equity through various programmes.
He urged the graduands to concentrate on research as a way of boosting Kenya’s standing on the global arena competitiveness. “As a society, we have to constantly research and innovate to participate in global competitiveness and formulate a better destiny for our nation,” Wairegi said.
